City pays tribute to maestro Satyajit Ray

In honour of Satyajit Ray ’s 103rd birth anniversary , a tribute was held at a city cinema hall, named 103 Not Out Ray. The event also featured a screening of the restored print of Ray’s timeless classic, Pratidwandi .

The tribute witnessed live song performances by singer Rupankar Bagchi , along with dance performances.
Prominent faces from the Bengali cinema industry, including Moon Moon Sen, Raima Sen, Sauraseni Maitra, Srijit Mukherji, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Bickram Ghosh, Arindam Sil , to name a few, graced the occasion.

Satyajit Ray directed 36 films in his lifetime, encompassing masterpieces like Pather Panchali, The Apu Trilogy, and Charulata, as well as enduring popular classics like Sonar Kella (1974), Joy Baba Felunath, and Hirak Rajar Deshe.

Ray's legacy extends far beyond the realm of cinema. His books, short stories, musical compositions, essays, and illustrations are cherished elements of Indian cultural heritage. Even decades after his passing, Ray remains a source of inspiration for filmmakers, artists, and intellectuals worldwide, continuing to influence generations.
