If you also often taste fast food made on the roadside or at stalls and shops in the market, then be careful. Fast food is proving to be very harmful to your digestive system. It is being seen as the main reason for many increasing problems ranging from stomach pain (diarrhea) to inflammation of the intestines.

According to the information received from Delhi-based hospitals, patients are reaching the OPD every day with complaints of stomach problems. Most of these patients are between the ages of 12 to 25 years. During the diagnosis of the problem, the consumption of fast food is considered the main reason for stomach problems in most people.

Increasing intestinal problems due to fast food

Nowadays the trend of eating fast food has increased. Children, women or the elderly, everyone is consuming it with great enthusiasm, ignoring their health, but do you know that fast foods are gradually swelling your intestines?

Intestinal inflammation occurs when there is burning, pain, redness, or swelling in the inner walls of our digestive tract. This condition can sometimes turn into serious diseases like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis. A big reason for this is our food habits, especially the increasing trend of fast foods.

What do doctors say?

Dr Deepak Verma, Assistant Professor at JIMS Hospital in Greater Noida, says, 8 to 10 patients are reaching JIMS every day with complaints of inflammation in the intestines due to consumption of fast food. To avoid diarrhea, people should avoid intoxication, fatty foods, and eating fried foods repeatedly in the same oil.

Fast food usually contains more fat, salt, and sugar, which can irritate the digestive system and cause problems like stomach pain, bloating, gas, and indigestion.

Inflammatory diseases related to intestines

Many studies also show that fast foods cause a lot of damage to the intestines. According to a report published in the BMJ Journals, people who eat processed or fast food more than 3 times a week have a 35% increased risk of inflammatory diseases related to intestines. The high fat, sugar, and additives (such as preservatives and emulsifiers) present in fast foods imbalance the gut bacteria, disturbing the gut microbiome and increasing inflammation.

Intestinal inflammation leads to chronic inflammation of the body, which can lead to diabetes, obesity, and even depression.
