Thane: The gradual opening of the Kasarvadavli flyover provides comfort to commuters on Thane’s Ghodbunder Road, considerably alleviating the infamous traffic jams faced in the region, especially by office workers and transport trucks.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) stated that the flyover will improve connectivity between Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai, and Virar, enabling easier transport along the vital route to Gujarat via the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Vashi.

The recently opened flyover, inaugurated by state transport minister Pratap Sarnaik, includes a two-lane design with a width of 7.5 meters and an underpass built with 2x2 lanes, able to handle approximately 73,333 passenger vehicles. Moreover, it has been designed to ultimately link with the future Metro-4 line, improving metro connectivity from Wadala to Gaimukh.

The design is aimed at easing the substantial traffic congestion usually encountered on Ghodbunder Road, vital for local travelers, particularly those journeying from Thane to Borivali, Vasai, and further, alongside major freight corridors heading to Gujarat.
