Mumbai Crime: DB Marg Police Arrest Wanted Accused In Vadodara After 3-State Chase; Remanded To Police Custody Until July 10

Mumbai: The Dr. D. B. Marg Police have arrested a wanted accused after tracking him across three different states over an extended period. The accused, Nagji Patel, was wanted in connection with a case registered under IPC Section 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) in 2022.
Patel had been absconding since 2022 and had been frequently changing his location. In 2023, he was allegedly involved in a murder case in Sanchore, Rajasthan, and managed to evade police for a year.
He was finally arrested by Rajasthan Police in 2024 for the murder, but was released on bail about eight months ago. Since then, he had been living in different states to avoid capture.
Recently, Dr. D. B. Marg Police received a tip-off that Patel was in Delhi. Acting on the information, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Shaikh was dispatched to the capital. However, by the time the team arrived, Patel had moved to Rajasthan. The police then redirected their efforts to Rajasthan, only to find that Patel had already left for Ahmedabad and then Vadodara in Gujarat.
After a sustained chase, the police team managed to intercept Patel in Vadodara while he was allegedly preparing to return to Rajasthan. He was taken into custody and brought back to Mumbai, where he was produced in court.
The court has remanded Nagji Patel to police custody until July 10. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
