Mumbai Tragedy: 15-Year-Old Student Dies By Suicide After Jumping From Bhandup High-Rise Due To Study Stress; Probe Underway

Mumbai: A 15-year-old student, Asmi Akshay Chavan, died by suicide on Tuesday, June 24, after reportedly telling a friend she was feeling depressed due to her studies. Asmi jumped from a window between the 30th and 31st floors of a residential building in Bhandup. The Bhandup Police have registered a case of accidental death report (ADR) and are investigating the matter.
According to the police, the victim, a resident of Mulund West, had come to meet her friend, 19-year-old Aditya Arun, residing at Mahindra Splendor Society, LBS Road, Bhandup West, on June 24, around 6 PM. Aditya and Asmi took the elevator to the 32nd floor of the building.
Subsequently, near a window located between the 30th and 31st floors, Asmi confided in Aditya, expressing her distress over her studies. Aditya reportedly tried to counsel Asmi and then left the spot. Shortly after, Asmi jumped from the window between the 30th and 31st floors, taking her own life.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Bhandup Police rushed to the scene. Asmi was rushed to Agarwal General Hospital, where doctors unfortunately declared her brought dead. Police stated that further investigation in the case is ongoing.
