Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Patna-Mahuli Elevated Road; Easing Travel To South Bihar

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar officially inaugurated the Patna-Mahuli Elevated Road, which is expected to drastically reduce travel time and relieve commuters from the long traffic jams that plagued this route for years. Commuting between Patna and South Bihar has now become easier with the inauguration of a new elevated road.
The newly launched road is a part of the Mihtapur-Mahuli-Punpun project, constructed at a cost of Rs 1,400 crore. It connects Bhupatipur to Punpun (NH-22) and includes both elevated and at-grade stretches, ensuring seamless connectivity across key southern regions of the state. With this development, residents of southern Patna and nearby districts such as Jehanabad, Arwal, Bihar Sharif and Gaya will experience smoother, faster, and more convenient travel.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior leaders like MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, former MP Ram Kripal Yadav, and other key officials. The event was chaired by Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, who emphasized the road’s importance for improving traffic flow and connectivity for lakhs of people living in southern parts of Patna.
The first phase of the project, which stretches from Sipara to Mahuli, has already been completed and opened for public use. This infrastructure boost is expected to not only reduce congestion in urban areas but also encourage regional development by improving access to remote districts.
Officials stated that this elevated road is part of a larger plan to modernize Bihar’s road network and bring much-needed ease to inter-district travel. The operationalisation of this route is a major step toward transforming Patna into a better-connected city and addressing the long-standing traffic woes of its southern belt.
