Mumbai Crime News: Zomato Delivery Boy Critically Injured In Knife Attack Over Arthur Road Jail Feud In Chembur; Accused Arrested
A 25-year-old man, Roshan Manjur Alam Shaikh, was critically injured in a knife attack in Chembur on July 12, stemming from a dispute at the Mumbai Central Jail (Arthur Road). The assailant, identified as Rihan Santosh Shaikh alias Rihan Chikna, 31, a police record holder, has been arrested by the RCF Police on charges of attempted murder. Roshan is currently undergoing treatment for serious injuries at Sion Hospital.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 4:30 AM on Saturday near Navbharat Society, Vashinaka, Chembur. Roshan, a Zomato delivery boy residing in Sainath Society, H. P. Colony Road, had previously been arrested in a separate case and held in judicial custody at Arthur Road Jail.
It was during their time in Arthur Road Jail that Roshan and Rihan had a heated argument. Following the dispute, Roshan reportedly threatened Rihan. Both individuals were later released on bail. Since then, Rihan had allegedly been harassing Roshan.
On July 12, at around 4:30 AM, Roshan was walking with his friend, Sahil Sajid Ansari, 23, to have tea and cigarettes in Vashinaka. The accused, Rihan, intercepted Roshan, verbally abused him, and then attacked Roshan with a knife.
Roshan, severely wounded in the assault, was first rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi by his friend Sahil, and subsequently transferred to Sion Hospital, Mumbai, for further treatment.
The RCF Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.
