Maharashtra: Ten kg tumour removed from man's back in Gondia

Nagpur, Jul 17 (UNI) A team of doctors at the Government Medical College, Gondia, have successfully removed a huge ten kg soft tissue tumour from the back of a 56-year-old farm labourer from Saori village.

Bhaulal Gomaji Naik, a resident of Saori village, was suffering from the rare tumour for the past five years.

Earlier, Bhaulal did not want to undergo surgery as he stayed alone, but changed his mind after meeting Dr Nandkishore Jaiswal.

According to Dr Jaiswal, the tumour is found in one among thousands. It develops from soft tissues of the body, mainly due to nerve sheath and fibrous connecting tissues. Fortunately for Bhaulal, the tumour developed externally which helped the doctors remove it in a comparatively easier manner.

The large tumour had turned into an infected ulcer affecting the skin and other body organs, said Dr Jaiswal.

Since the patient was suffering from HBS Ag+(Hepatitis), the doctors were little apprehensive.

However, Bhaulal was operated upon successfully in a two-hour long surgery, Dr Jaiswal added.
