Christian Horner's pregnant first wife he dumped before marrying Geri Halliwell

Christian Horner has been sensationally sacked as the Formula 1 Red Bull boss, a position he's held for 20 years, but it's not just his career that has hit headlines. His love life has also been in the spotlight after he notoriously dumped his long-term partner for a new romance with Spice Girls star Geri Halliwell, now Horner.

Today (9 July), it was announced thatChristian,who was the team principal and CEO of Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 from 2005 to 2025,has been axed by Red Bull.A spokesperson for parent company Red Bull GmbH told Mirror Sport:"Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today."

His exit comes after he was largely under scrutiny following accusations last year of 'inappropriate behaviour' towards a female colleague at Red Bull Racing. He denied the claim and was cleared of wrongdoing by an independent external KC appointed by Red Bull to investigate the matter; however, the scandal caused divisions in Red Bull Racing's leadership.

Following his axe, Christian will no doubt be supported by his popstar wife, Geri Horner, who has been standing by her husband throughout the ordeal. But their relationship got off to a rocky start...

The former Formula 1 boss and Geri first crossed paths in 2009 through her connection with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone. However, at the time, there was no hint of a spark as Christian was with his long-term partner, Beverley Allen.

Christian and Beverley were together for 14 years and during that time tied the knot. They lived in an Oxfordshire mansion, and Beverley stood beside her husband when he joined Red Bull Racing in Formula 1.

During their romance, Christian is said to have been a supportive stepfather to Beverley's two sons from a previous relationship. After a whopping 14 years together, they split up soon after the birth of their daughter Olivia.

A mere six months after Olivia's arrival in October 2014, Christian and Geri went public with their romance, swiftly followed by an engagement announcement in November 2014.

The couple exchanged vows in May 2015 at St Mary's Church in Woburn, Bedfordshire, amid family drama as Christian's parents chose to boycott the ceremony.

The Sunday Mirror revealed in 2015 that his mum and dad were devastated when their son left Beverley and later started seeing Geri. One of Christian's relatives expressed their dismay before the wedding, stating from their Gloucestershire home: "You can say that his parents are absolutely devastated. We won't be going to the wedding."

Hints of a deeper narrative emerged as they added: "There is a lot more to this story than people know about – to do with his ex-partner."

The situation led to a family schism, with Christian's mother and father reportedly among several relatives who disapproved of his actions. At the time, a friend of Geri and Christian disclosed: "Over the years Christian has been very close to his parents – particularly to his dad who shares his love of motor racing – but recent events have thrown everything into doubt. His mum is particularly upset.

"It's a real shame and everyone involved is upset. Weddings are expected to bring families closer together, but this engagement has driven a wedge between people."

Thankfully, despite their tumultuous split, the former Red Bull chief managed to bury the hatchet with his ex for their daughter's sake. It was also reported that Geri remained determined to mend ties within the family following the wedding snub.

In happier news, Christian and Geri announced in October 2016 that they were expecting their first child together. A statement said at the time: "Geri and Christian are absolutely delighted to announce they are expecting their first child together.

"The couple is overjoyed with the good news and cannot wait to welcome the newest addition to their family."

Insiders revealed to the Mirror that Beverley was privy to the news before it hit the headlines, stating: "She has been fully kept in the loop and they have a good relationship."

Today, the couple continues to parent their blended family, which includes Geri's daughter Bluebell, 18, from a previous relationship, Christian's daughter Olivia, 11, whom he shares with Beverley, and their son, Monty, whom they welcomed in 2017.
