Rahul Gandhi's birthday gift to India's youth: 3,500 appointment letters at Congress job fair

The Congress party on Thursday, 19 June, organised a massive job fair at Delhi’s Talkatora stadium to celebrate the 55th birthday of Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, to promote what it called his “solution-oriented politics”.
According to the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), over 100 companies participated in the fair, offering more than 5,000 job opportunities. Thousands of young job seekers thronged the venue — and 3,500 came away with appointment letters in hand.
Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal lauded the initiative and congratulated the IYC for linking the celebration to employment generation.
"Many congratulations to the Indian Youth Congress for organising such a massive job fair, especially on Rahul-ji’s birthday. It’s a strong message to the country,” he said.
The job fair, reflects the Congress’s attempt to combine symbolic political messaging with tangible public outreach, especially targeting youth, believe political watchers.
The IYC and NUSI have also organised screenings of the feature film Phule in various parts of the country on this occasion.
"Today, on the birthday of nyay yoddha [justice warrior] and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the NSUI screened the film Phule, based on a biography of the Phule couple and [undertook] social welfare activities in various states of the country, while the Indian Youth Congress organised a 'Mega Job Fair' at Talkatora Stadium, Delhi. Hearty congratulations to the NSUI and the IYC for this thoughtful effort," wrote NSUI in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar on X.
Amongst those who turned up for the movie screenings was Sachin Pilot, who posted on X to note that 'Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule fought throughout their lives to bring about change against social discrimination. Their lives are inspirational for all of us.'
The Congress party, in turn, also used this occasion to highlight Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and social vision as a later-generation activist.
In a post on social media, the party described him as a “true crusader for justice”, adding, “Through your fearless integrity and tireless commitment, you remind us all that real change is fuelled by compassion and empathy. May this year bring you joy and renewed strength to champion the ideals you stand for.”
Later in the day, after meeting party leaders and supporters at its 24 Akbar Road office, Rahul Gandhi visited his mother Sonia Gandhi at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where she has been admitted due to a stomach infection. He distributed sweets among the doctors and staff, expressing his gratitude for their care and service.
