Policemen attacked, under-trials freed in UP
Lucknow, July 17:
Criminals attacked a police van and freed three under-trials after killing two policemen here on Wednesday.
The criminals also took away a police rifle with them.
According to Additional DG (Law and Order) PV Ramashastri, the attack took place near Baniyather in Sambhal district on Wednesday evening.
A total of 24 under-trials were being transported from Chandausi court to Moradabad when a gang of heavily-armed criminals attacked the van near Dhannumal Tiaraha at around 4:30 pm.
The two policemen - identified as Harendra and Brijpal - who were shot were taken to a hospital. But they were declared dead on arrival.
The police have formed several teams to nab the under-trials who have escaped.
