IND vs ENG: Yashasvi Jaiswal continues remarkable run vs England with fifth Test ton
New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up his fifth Test hundred in the opening match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley in Leeds on Friday, June 20. He also became the seventh Indian opener to score a century in England and Australia as the Men in Blue continue to dominate the Test match after losing the toss.
He joined Vinoo Mankad, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Murli Vijay and KL Rahul in the elite list of Indian openers to score a hundred in England and Australia. Jaiswal started his Test career with a sensational hundred against the West Indies in July 2023. The left-handed batter has also notched up a century in Australia last year during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth.

The 23-year-old is playing his first Test match on English soil and forged a 91-run partnership with Rahul for the first wicket. Jaiswal was dismissed by England skipper Ben Stokes on 101 runs as he tried to drive down the length delivery, but the ball nipped away to beat the outside edge of his bat and hit the stumps.

The duo stitched a 91-run partnership for the first wicket. The hosts made a comeback in the match as Brydon Carse removed Rahul on 42 runs, while Stokes dismissed debutant Sai Sudharsan on a duck.
Captain Shubman Gill and Jaiswal stitched another 129-run partnership for the third wicket to put India on top again. Stokes dismissed in-form Jaiswal on 101 runs, but with seven wickets in hand, the visitors will look to finish strongly on Day 1.
