UP: Wife caught with lover in field, married off by villagers; later accuses husband, in-laws of kidnapping

Ghazipur: A strange incident unfolded in Jamuava village of Ghazipur’s Karanda police station area, where a married woman was caught red-handed with her lover by villagers and was then forcefully married to him at a local temple. The matter took a dramatic turn when the woman later filed a police case against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of kidnapping and molestation.
According to reports, the woman was married to a man named Rohit in 2023. After the marriage, the couple moved to Noida where Rohit started working in a private company. His colleague, Pintu, who lived in a nearby village, would often visit their home. Over time, a love affair developed between Pintu and Rohit’s wife. Rohit said he had caught them together multiple times and was even threatened by Pintu to stay silent.
Recently, Rohit and his wife returned to their native village, and Pintu also came there. On Wednesday evening, Rohit’s wife told him she was unwell and sent him out to get medicine. In his absence, she met her lover Pintu in a nearby field. Some villagers noticed this and informed Rohit’s family. The villagers, along with the family members, rushed to the spot and caught the woman and her lover together.
They were taken to a nearby Kali temple and tied there. The woman insisted she wanted to live with Pintu, and Pintu also agreed to marry her. Fearing further conflict, Rohit and his family agreed to their wishes, and the couple was married on the spot following Hindu rituals. The police were informed soon after.
However, the story didn’t end there. The woman later filed a police complaint accusing ten people, including her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, of kidnapping and molestation.
Karanda police station in-charge said that the case is being investigated. He clarified that the so-called marriage cannot be considered valid unless the woman is legally divorced from her first husband.
