Taking inspiration from Global NCAP, the Government of India launched Bharat NCAP in the year 2023. This organization independently tests cars in India on safety, build quality, technology, and many other parameters, and gives them safety ratings. Earlier, where cars were sent outside India for crash test rating, now with this facility being available in the country itself, it has become easier for car companies to get ratings.

According to the portal of BNCAP, 20 cars have received crash test ratings from it since 2023. These include many companies, including Tata, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Skoda, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota.
