After the Ahmedabad plane crash, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation of Air India's Boeing 787-8/9 fleet. This includes evaluation of the fuel parameter system, takeoff standards and other important aspects of aircraft safety.

After the Ahmedabad plane crash, DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has taken a big decision. DGCA has ordered an investigation on Air India's Boeing 787-8/9 fleet. Under the order of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the fuel parameter system will be checked. Every standard of aircraft safety will be checked. This will be effective from June 15. Takeoff standards will also be checked in this.

DGCA has said in its order, Air India flight AL-171 (Ahmedabad-Gatwick) met with an accident on 12 June. To prevent any such mishap in future, DGCA directs Air India to immediately carry out additional maintenance on B787-8/9 aircraft equipped with GenX engines in coordination with the concerned regional DGCA offices.

From June 15, all flights in the country will be checked once before takeoff

  • Fuel parameter monitoring and related system testing.
  • Checking the cabin air compressor and related systems.
  • Checking the electronic engine control system.
  • Engine fuel operated actuators-operational test and fuel system check
Checking the hydraulic system
  • Review of take-off parameters.
  • 'Flight Control Inspection' to be introduced in transit inspection until further notice.
  • Power assurance check to be conducted within two weeks.
  • Review of recurring malfunctions on B787-8/9 aircraft during last 15 days. Submit investigation report to DGCA for review.
241 people died in the plane crash

On Thursday, Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft flying from Ahmedabad to London crashed on a medical college campus shortly after takeoff. There were 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board the plane. Air India has confirmed that 241 people have died in this accident. One passenger has miraculously survived. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Responsibility of investigation given to AAIB

After the accident, officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other central agencies visited the accident site on Friday. Officials have not yet shared any information regarding the investigation. The responsibility of the investigation has been handed over to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
