The central government has decided to celebrate the 400th Prakash Utsav of 9th Sikh Guru Sriguru Tegh Bahadur with pomp. A 70-member high-powered committee, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been set up to commemorate this festival on April 1 next year.

This committee will take all kinds of decisions related to the event.

According to senior officials, the committee's functions include setting the detailed dates for the festival's policies, plans, programs, and the entire program related to the festival, in addition to supervision and direction. The government has also included former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the committee. Apart from PM Modi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Hardeep Singh Puri have also been included in this committee.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as well as Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswamy, Maharashtra CM CM Uddhav Thackeray, Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat, Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot will also be part of the committee.

Other prominent members include Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Akali Dal leader Prakash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, SGPC President Govind Singh Longowal, retired Army Chief General JJ Singh, retired former Air Force Chief Virender Singh Dhanoa, and Olympics. Players Milkha Singh and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh have been included. Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla will be the member secretary of this committee.

The committee will also get the authority to approve the policies, programs, and monitoring guidelines that guide the jubilee celebrations in addition to deciding on the detailed dates for the function programs.
