Proper diet, exercise, weight control and periodic health checkup are the best ways to prevent fatty liver. There are some symptoms that you should be aware of. Experts have told about this.

Fatty liver, that is, accumulation of fat in the liver, is becoming a common but serious problem nowadays. Earlier this disease was more prevalent among alcohol drinkers, but now people are getting non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) even without drinking alcohol. The biggest reason for this is poor eating habits, obesity, sedentary lifestyle and stress. Due to changed lifestyle and eating habits, every fourth person is facing the problem of fatty liver.

As soon as fat starts accumulating on the liver, the liver starts giving signals, but we ignore those signals. When the condition becomes serious, the symptoms also become serious. After which the patient goes to the doctor. Whereas if the symptoms are recognized in the beginning, then many times there is no need to go to the doctor. By making some changes in lifestyle and eating habits, you can overcome the problem of fatty liver in the beginning.

The problem is that the initial symptoms of fatty liver are so common that people ignore them. But the body gradually signals that the liver is in danger. If these signals are recognized in time, the disease can be prevented from progressing. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Head of the Gastroenterology Department at Sarvodaya Hospital in Greater Noida, has described some symptoms of fatty liver.

1. Always feeling tired If you get tired even without doing much work and feel lack of energy throughout the day, then this can be a sign of liver disorder. Due to fatty liver, the body's detox process slows down, metabolism weakens and you feel tired.

2. Heaviness or mild pain in the right side of the stomach The liver is located in the upper right part of the stomach. If you feel mild pain, heaviness or pressure there, then it may be the beginning of fat accumulation in the liver. Often people ignore it thinking it to be gas or indigestion.

3. Weight gain, especially around the belly Fatty liver is often associated with obesity, especially belly fat. If your waistline is increasing rapidly or your belly is bulging, it could be a sign that fat is accumulating in your liver.

4. Yellowing of the skin and eyes (mild jaundice) Although this symptom appears in the later stages, sometimes the skin colour starts changing even in the early signs of fatty liver. Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or dullness of the skin can be a sign of liver damage.

5. Loss of appetite and feeling full quickly Decreased liver function affects digestion. The result is loss of appetite, bloating or nausea after eating a small amount of food. These symptoms are mild, but can become serious if ignored for a long time.

The disadvantages of ignoring

Ignoring the mild symptoms of fatty liver can lead to many serious problems. These can include hepatitis and even liver cirrhosis. These serious diseases can be avoided by controlling diet when the initial symptoms appear. Fatty liver disease progresses slowly and can harm the body even without symptoms. But if you take small changes like fatigue, stomach pain, change in appetite seriously and get yourself checked by a doctor on time, then it can be prevented.
