Fed Up with Years of Abuse, Son Kills Drunk Father to Save Mother in Andhra Pradesh
A tragic case of domestic violence turned deadly in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, where a son killed his alcoholic father to protect his mother from ongoing abuse. The incident occurred in the Santhapeta Lenin Nagar Colony, and the deceased has been identified as Venkat Reddy, 50, a driver by profession.
Years of Abuse Boil OverAccording to police, Venkat Reddy had a long history of alcohol addiction and was known for his violent behavior towards his wife Saraswati. The couple had two sons, Mohan and Somshekhar Reddy. The elder son works as a truck driver, while the younger, Somshekhar, is employed at a medical shop.
Venkat frequently accused his wife of infidelity and physically assaulted her under the influence of alcohol. In a past incident, he had even hit her with a stone. The abuse was so severe that both sons had previously filed a police complaint, leading to Venkat’s arrest and counseling. However, his behavior remained unchanged.
The Night of the IncidentTwo days ago, Venkat Reddy returned home in a heavily intoxicated state and began threatening Saraswati with a knife. Unable to bear the sight of his mother being terrorized again, Somshekhar intervened. In a moment of rage, he snatched the knife from his father and stabbed him. Venkat died on the spot from severe blood loss.
After the incident, Somshekhar Reddy walked into the local police station, knife in hand, and confessed to the killing. He was taken into custody and the crime scene was inspected by authorities. The body of Venkat Reddy was sent for post-mortem examination. Following standard procedure, Somshekhar was arrested and has been remanded to judicial custody.
