MP Government Launches Chief Minister Vrindavan Gram Yojana to Develop Ideal Self-Reliant Villages

In a major step towards rural transformation, the Madhya Pradesh government under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has approved the Chief Minister Vrindavan Gram Yojana in a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. The scheme aims to make selected villages self-reliant, spiritually inspired, and economically vibrant, serving as model villages for others in the state.

Key Highlights of the Vrindavan Gram Yojana:
  • One Village per District: One village will be selected from each district with:

    • A minimum population of 2,000

    • At least 500 bovine or milch animals

  • Core Vision: The initiative is modeled after the spirit of "Vrindavan" — focusing on cow service, dairy development, cleanliness, greenery, and spiritual harmony alongside modern infrastructure.

Objectives of the Scheme:
  • Promote Cow Rearing and Dairy Development: To achieve self-sufficiency in milk production and strengthen the rural economy through cooperative models.

  • Environmental and Sustainable Development:

    • Organic farming

    • Water conservation

    • Solar energy adoption

    • Waste and grey water management

  • Empowerment of Panchayats:

    • Income generation through local resources

    • e-Panchayat and Common Service Centers (CSCs)

Infrastructure to Be Developed:
  • Livelihood and Public Utilities:

    • Cowshed, Gram Panchayat Bhawan, Anganwadi Centre

    • Health center, school, library, and community buildings

    • Livelihood workshed, milk collection center, and skill-based service hubs

    • Solar-powered water supply to every household

    • Biogas plant, veterinary hospital, Shantidham and cow-samadhi site

    • Public toilets, parks, and climate-friendly housing for the poor

  • Connectivity and Commerce:

    • Construction of internal roads and drainage

    • Shops and godowns for the public distribution system

    • Centers for art and craft based industries, fruit/agriculture processing units

  • Tourism and Culture:

    • Home-stays to promote rural tourism

    • Conservation of religious sites

    • Promotion of local handicrafts

Water and Agriculture Initiatives:
  • Water Conservation Projects:

    • Check dams, tube well recharge, pond preservation, and rooftop harvesting

  • Agricultural Support:

    • Nutrition gardens, Nandan fruit gardens

    • Drip irrigation and organic farming methods

Special Focus Areas:
  • 100% eKYC for beneficiaries

  • Encroachment-free spatial planning

  • Nutritious food in Anganwadis and schools

  • Sanitation vehicles and faecal sludge management

Massive Infrastructure Boost:

The cabinet also gave in-principle approval to reconstruct 1,766 damaged bridges at a cost of ₹4,572 crore under the State Bridge Reconstruction Scheme. The plan will run from FY 2025-26 to 2029-30 and aims to ensure all-weather connectivity in rural areas. The MP Rural Road Development Authority has been entrusted with execution and monitoring.
