'Sitare Zameen Par' Set for a Big Release! Aamir Khan Expands Screen Count After Exhibitors' Request

Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film ‘Sitare Zameen Par’, hitting theatres on 20th June. Initially slated to open on around 1000-1500 screens in India, the modest number sparked questions about whether the film could succeed with such a limited release in today’s wide-release era.

However, recent developments have brightened the film’s prospects. According to reports from Pinkvilla

, single-screen theatre owners and smaller multiplex exhibitors approached Aamir Khan, urging him to release the film on a much wider scale. They expressed confidence that Aamir’s massive star power combined with the film’s compelling story would attract large audiences to their venues.

Screen Count Doubled for Greater Reach

Responding to the exhibitors’ request, Aamir and his team have decided to increase the release to 3000-3500 screens

nationwide—more than double the initially planned count. This expansion is expected to give the film a strong opening platform and enhance its chances of becoming a hit at the box office.

Theatres-Only Release Earns Exhibitors’ Support

Another reason for the exhibitors’ enthusiastic backing is Aamir’s commitment to a theatres-only release, with no plans to premiere on OTT platforms. This decision underscores his faith in the cinema experience and has earned goodwill from theatre owners eager for new content.

Aamir’s Comeback After Three Years

This film marks Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after a three-year hiatus since ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ (2022), which underperformed commercially. Directed by RS Prasanna, ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ also stars Genelia Deshmukh alongside Aamir. Given his past setback, the stakes are high, and the widened release is a strategic move to ensure a strong comeback.
