Violation of traffic rules has become common on Indian roads. Some park their vehicles in no parking areas, while others drive their bikes at high speed on the wrong side. Many times the traffic police is not present on the spot, which further emboldens the rule breakers. But now the government has also made common people a partner in traffic improvement. Through a special app of Delhi Traffic Police 'Traffic Prahari', any person can report a traffic rule breaker and take action against him.
What is the Traffic Prahari app?
'Traffic Prahari' is a government mobile app, launched by Delhi Traffic Police. Through this app, common people can register complaints against those who ignore traffic rules through photos or videos without revealing their identity. Complaints like jumping red lights, driving without a helmet, wrong parking, or wrong-side driving can be registered in it.
How to use the app
1. First of all download the Traffic Prahari app from the Google Play Store.
2. After opening the app, log in with your mobile number through OTP.
3. After login, enter your username and email ID.
4. You will get two options: Report Offence and Reported Offence
5. Select Report Offence to report a new incident.
6. Select Reported Offence to know the status of a previously made report.
Fill in these details while reporting.
Photo or video of the incident
Type of traffic violation (such as dangerous driving, driving on the wrong side)
Vehicle number
Location, date, and time
Optionally you can also add comments.

What action is taken then?
Your report reaches the traffic police officials directly. They review the information submitted and if the violation is confirmed, a traffic challan is issued against the concerned vehicle owner. You can check the status of the report by logging into the app.
