Ujjain : Sandipani Ashram celebrates Janmashtami in different ways

Ujjain: While Srikrishna Janmashtami is celebrated all over the country, the festival has its own distinct look at Ujjain, the educational site of Shri Krishna. Lord Krishna had received all his teachings and knowledge from Guru Sandivani at Sandeepani Ashram in Ujjain. The Maharishi Sandimani Ashram in Ujjain is the hot spot of Rishi Sandimani, where Maharshi performed a great penance.

It was at this place that Maharishi Sandimani built the ashram for the teachings of the Ved-Purana Shashadi. Shri Krishna Janma Ashtami is performed at Sandipanni Ashram late at 12 pm. In fact, devotees from all over the world visit Sandimani Ashram on Janmashtami and visit Shri Krishna's educational site. The Janm Ashtami is celebrated across the country and on this day various Sri Krishna temples are decorated.

There are also three main Krishna temples in Ujjain. The first Sandimani Ashram where Lord Krishna acquired knowledge from Guru Sandilani and lived in Ujjain with his Brother Sakha Sudama and Brother Balram. The second temple is the Gopal Temple. The temple is maintained by the Scindia family and the third is the ISKCON temple of the International Institution. The festival of Krishna Janma Ashtami is celebrated with great joy in all the three places.
