Ila Arun Left Speechless by 'Choli Ke Peeche' Remix in 'Crew'

Legendary singer Ila Arun found herself reeling from surprise after hearing the modern twist on her classic hit 'Choli Ke Peeche' for the movie 'Crew.' The original, which had everyone grooving in 1993 with Madhuri Dixit and Neena Gupta leading the charge, now features the stellar trio of Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon.

In a candid chat with India Today, Arun shared her whirlwind of emotions upon discovering the remix was released with only a five-minute warning, leaving her to hastily send her blessings. Despite her longstanding rapport with the music company Tips, she couldn't help but echo Alka Yagnik's sentiments, expressing both their astonishments at the song's recreation.

The tune, initially woven into the musical fabric of Bollywood by the genius duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and brought to life by the performances of Dixit and Gupta, holds an iconic status that Arun believes is unparalleled. She praised the original for its vibrant orchestration and the legacy it has carved in the hearts of fans worldwide.

Arun emphasized the importance of including original artists in the conversation when it comes to remakes, suggesting that not only should they be kept in the loop, but also fairly compensated for their contributions. The remix, sung by Diljit Dosanjh and IP Singh, while giving a nod to Yagnik and Arun, has stirred a mix of reactions, leaving Arun "shaken up" yet taking it all in stride.

As the Bollywood music scene evolves, the recreation of 'Choli Ke Peeche' serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between honoring classics and embracing new interpretations. For Ila Arun, the surprise remake is a bittersweet symphony of emotions, capturing the essence of a song that has danced its way through decades, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
