Boden's bright and colourful linen shirt is 'perfect for summer' - and it's in the sale

Dressing smartly in the summer isn't always straightforward. When the temperature rises, staying cool often comes at the cost of looking put-together, especially if you're navigating everything from heatwave commutes to holiday dinners. That's where a good linen shirt earns its place in your wardrobe. Light, breathable, and endlessly versatile, it's the sort of piece you can pair with so much and even chuck on as an extra layer over a vest (or maybe even a bikini at the beach).
If you're looking for a traditional-cut linen shirt but maybe want to jazz things up with a colour or pattern, Boden's Sienna Linen Shirt caught my eye as a polished and fun take on the classic. One of the best things about this shirt is that it comes in such a vast array of colours and prints (11 in total) and is also available in regular and petite sizes.
While the shirt comes in plain colours, including a classic crisp white and easy-to-wear navy, the bold patterned versions really caught my eye. The Ivory Tropical Bonanza print is my favourite and would look great on holiday. Plus, it's one of the few shirts in the range that is actually on sale right now, reduced to £64 down from £80.
The tropical design has a mix of desert island prints, like parakeets and shells, giving it a kooky, almost vintage feel. However, the price reduction on this design does mean that some of the sizes are starting to sell out.
Though currently not on sale (retailing for £79), the blue Multi Abstract Swirl print makes a retro-reminiscent statement with its sea-hued palette and soft, brushstroke pattern.
Reviews describe the tropical print as: "A perfect summer shirt." Another person left a review of the abstract print, saying: "Love the pattern and colours."
Both prints strike the perfect balance between wearable and bold. But if they are a bit too much for you, there are plenty of other neutral styles to choose from. The white would be my top pick, given that it goes with practically everything. Though not on sale, it's slightly cheaper than the blue Abstract Swirl Print shirt, at £75. There's also a full range of sizes in stock, and it comes in petite and regular.
The shirt's clean, straight cut means it feels polished without trying too hard. Roll the sleeves, tuck it into white shorts, or layer it over swimwear as a stylish cover-up. Made from 80% linen and 20% recycled linen, it is likely to offer the classic airy texture with a nod to sustainability.
However, there are a few comments about it coming up slightly bigger than the size indicates, with some shoppers suggesting sizing down.
