Netflix announces release date for sequel to most-watched non-English film of all time
Netflix is set to unleash its most successful non-English film ever, as a tantalising new trailer teases the upcoming sequel.
The 2022 hit movie centred on a band of characters determined to halt an ancient troll reawakened in the depths of a Norwegian mountain.
Troll, steeped in Norwegian folklore, has clinched the title of Netflix's top non-English film, amassing an impressive 103 million views to date.
In Troll 2, audiences can expect heightened tension and more perilous threats as "beloved heroes Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgard Pettersen) return - joined by fierce newcomer Marion (Sara Khorami)."
This time, they face off against an even more formidable and destructive troll that threatens to wreak havoc across Norway.

Set to premiere on December 1, the sequel brings back the original creative force, including writer Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud from Motion Blur.
Director Roar Uthaug shared his excitement: "I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined.
"With the sequel, we are aiming high - expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you've never seen before."
Uthaug eagerly anticipates fans diving into the new adventure, adding, "I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store."
Star Ine Marie Wilmann, who plays Nora, expressed her astonishment at the film's international acclaim.
The actress enthusiastically shared: "It is with great respect and excitement that I embarked on creating the sequel."
Her optimism shines through as she states: "I hope and believe that people will enjoy more of what they appreciated last time."
With a touch of pride, she reveals: "We certainly had a fantastic time making Troll 2, and we are really looking forward to sharing it with the world."
The task of crafting a sequel isn't lost on producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud, who confessed it's "always daunting", yet they are bullish about Troll 2 surpassing its predecessor in scale and entertainment.
The plot for Troll 2 is outlined as follows: "When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet."
Detailing the narrative, the synopsis continues: "To stop the creature's ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country's ancient history, searching for answers."
As urgency mounts, it warns: "As the clock ticks and the troll's path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness."
