Virat Kohli Returns to India From England After the World Cup

Team India skipper Virat Kohli arrived in India on Thursday after India ended their World Cup campaign in England on a sorry note with a semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

Virat was seen at the Mumbai airport on Thursday along with Bollywood actor and wife Anushka Sharma.

Earlier, the Indian contingent were stuck in England after their semi-final due to the nonavailability of tickets.

Rohit Sharma was the first Indian cricketer to return to India from England.

After the Word Cup, India will be travelling to West Indies for a one-month long tour.

After the disappointing World Cup campaign, Virat Kohli is expected to join the Indian team for the tour of West Indies, which includes 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches. The one-month long tour will begin from 3 August and end on 3 September.

Earlier, it was believed that captain Virat Kohli won’t be travelling with the side and would be rested for the T20I and ODI series, along with pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

But reportedly, Kohli has informed the selectors that he will travel to West Indies not only for the Test matches but also for the T20I and ODI series.

Both Kohli and Bumrah played in all the nine matches for India at the World Cup. The skipper went onto score 443 runs from his nine innings, which included five successive half-centuries. Unfortunately, in the semi-final Kohli could manage only 1 run as India lost to New Zealand by 18 runs.

After the Word Cup, this will be India’s first assignment which will start with the 2 T20Is in Florida on August 3 and 4.
