Man beaten to death during Janmashtami celebrations in UP's Deoria; Section 144 imposed

Deoria: A 25-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death in the Bahraj area of Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night. After the incident came to light, Section 144 of The Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed on the Bahraj area. 

According to the orders of Amit Kishore, District Magistrate, Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed on Bahraj till September 15.

The incident took place when the locals were celebrating Janmashtami. 

The deceased has been identified as Sumit. Initially, Sumit's father Munnu Lal had been attacked by the accused. Lal had allegedly asked some of the youths to stop playing music when the incident took place. Shripati Mishra, Superintendent of Police (SP), Deoria said, "On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, some youths were playing DJ in Patel Nagar of Bahraj on Saturday night. Munnu Lal asked them to stop it, which enraged 10-12 youths."

The accused youths allegedly beat Lal with sticks. On seeing Lal get attacked, his sons Sumit and Sachin ran to his rescue. Lal's wife Sanju Devi also rushed to help him. The accused allegedly beat all three of them along with Lal. 

The police reached the spot when they learned about the incident and rushed Lal and his family to a local health centre. Munnu Lal and his son Sumit were referred to the district hospital for further treatment. The doctors at the district hospital declared Sumit dead. None of the accused has been arrested yet. The police have assured that they will take strict action against the accused youths.

Bengaluru man stabs colleague after being asked to lower volume 

In February this year, a man allegedly stabbed his colleague to death in Bengaluru after the former asked him to lower the volume of the music. The incident took place in Kaggaadaspura Main Road in east Bengaluru. The accused and the victim were cooks and used to work together. They had been living in the same establishment. 

The victim Bharathi S was sleeping when the noise coming from the other room of his house started disturbing him. When Bharathi went to the other room and asked Pullak Das to lower the volume, the latter refused. 

This led to an argument between the two men, after which, Das stabbed Bharathi in the neck. Following this, Das fled from the house. Bharathi called his friend who rushed him to the hospital. The doctors administered 26 stitches to Bharathi.
