Man stands beside Godavari to prevent people from dumping garbage in the river, netizens laud him

Nashik: A man named Chandra Kishore Patil has been winning praises on the internet for a simple deed he performed. He was seen standing near a garbage dump in the city. It was on a bridge where people threw the waste into the river Godavari.

The pictures were clicked and shared by an IFS officer named Swetha Boddu.

He stood on the bridge with a whistle in his hand and stopped people from throwing the garbage into the river.

Boddu's tweet said, "I saw this man stand on the road for an entire day with a whistle in hand to stop people from throwing Dusshera 'holy waste' in plastic bags in the Godavari in Nashik. Dear Mr. Patil, respect!

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Patil spoke about how he lives in the society closer to the bridge, and every year, the garbage situation there gets worse.

"I stand beside the river from morning till 11 pm in the night with a whistle and alert the people to not throw garbage into the river. I've been doing this for five years and will keep doing so until my health permits," he told the news organization.

Despite him being faced by rude people reprimanding him for doing this, it did not deter him away from such a noble cause.

The above-posted tweet went viral for all the right reasons. Netizens hailed him for his stand and called him an inspiration. "Thanks for sharing positive information. Thanks to Mr. Patil too working selflessly for working on such noble causes and spread awareness," one user said.

People like Mr. Patil are rarely found. May we know more such selfless people!
