Woman's body missing fingers, torso found at cane field in Bulandshahr district of UP

Meerut: A horrific case of alleged torture and murder has come to light from Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh where villagers discovered the dismantled body of a 23-year-old woman on Friday morning. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the woman was missing her fingers and torso apart from bearing severe brutal injury marks all over her body.

Locals spotted the body lying in a cane field near Bulandshahr-Anupshahr highway in Utrawali village on Friday morning and alerted authorities. A team of police officials was rushed to the spot and arrived at the spot without wasting any time. The woman's body was then shifted to a hospital in the area for post-mortem and identification.

A preliminary inquiry has led investigators to believe that the woman was tortured by the culprits before being murdered. They purposely chopped off her fingers and head in order to conceal her identity, said an official familiar with the matter. As per the latest reports, a first information report (FIR) has been registered against unknown accused at the Bulandhshar (rural) police station under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which correspond to charges of murder and causing disappearance of evidence or offence.

Meanwhile, station house officer (SHO) of Bulandshahr Kotwali (rural), Dixit Tyagi told media outlets that other police stations in the district have been informed about the matter and asked to check their records of missing persons in order to identify the victim. Tyagi also said that investigators are yet to rule out the rape angle in this case.

A similar instance had come to light from the national capital in January of this year when bystanders discovered the body of a woman in a field in Alipur. Missing a torso, the woman's body was found stuffed in a sack. A police official probing the matter had told media outlets that several bite marks were found on the woman's body, however, police believed that the marks were in fact, dog bites.
