Lawyers continue to boycott work against razing of chambers
Prayagraj: Lawyers of Prayagraj district court on Thursday continued their agitation and work boycott on the second consecutive day against the demolition of their chambers by Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday.
Agitating lawyers staged a blockade in front of the district court by putting the broken chairs and tables of their chambers in the middle of the road. They claimed that the chambers were demolished without making any alternative arrangements for them.
District Court Bar Association leader Rakesh Dubey said demolishing chambers without prior notice was illegal and it violated the professional rights of lawyers.
"The agitation will continue until the chambers are reconstructed and actions are taken against the guilty persons," he said.
The PMC had on Wednesday demolished over 100 ‘illegal' chambers on the district court premises claiming that they were constructed without any prior approval.
Subsequently, a delegation of the association along with several lawyers reached the PMC office and met the district magistrate and mukhya nagar adhikari to register their protest.
