Jalandhar: The Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP held parallel protests against each other in Jalandhar Saturday evening.

Earlier in the day, BJP activists torched chief minister Bhagwant Mann 's effigy at Company Bagh Chowk for his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's foreign visits. Former BJP minister Manoranjan Kalia, former Jalandhar mayor Rakesh Rathor, former MP Sushil Rinku, BJP district president Sushil Sharma, and former MLA Sheetal Angural were among those who addressed the protests. "PM Narendra Modi increased India's prestige, while CM Mann brought infamy to Punjab," said Kalia.

On the other hand, AAP workers held a protest in Shastri Market against the BJP, carrying placards reading "BJP with gangsters" and "AAP with traders". BJP leaders have been questioning the genuineness of the Punjab govt and police claims about an encounter linked to trader Sanjay Verma's murder.

Senior leaders of the ruling party have been alleging that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was lodged in Sabarmati jail, and from there he was coordinating attacks.
