CM Nitish Kumar unveils statue of ex-MP Kamla Mishra Madhukar in East Champaran
MOTIHARI: Chief minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a life-size statue of former MP late Kamla Mishra Madhukar at Medan Sirisiya village under Kalyanpur block in East Champaran district on Sunday at a colourful function.
Shalini Mishra, daughter of Madhukar, a veteran CPI leader, welcomed the CM at her village by offering him ‘angvastra’ and a memento.
Nitish met Madhukar’s family members and talked about his eventful political journey. Madhukar had represented Kesariya and Motihari parliamentary constituencies four times.
After landing at a helipad developed near the village, Nitish walked up to the statue site with Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary and inaugurated a ‘smarak’ (memorial) raised in the village. Both the CM and the Speaker planted saplings at the gate of the ‘smarak’.
After unveiling the statue, the CM also inaugurated a health camp in the village and greeted village folk and party workers from a stage raised near the village school campus. The occasion was graced by cooperative minister Rana Randhir Singh, former minister Awadhesh Prasdad Kushwaha, former minister Shyam Bihari Prasad, Birendra Kushwaha and a good numbers of CPI leaders also participated in the function.
