Covid-19: Punjab sees three cases in Patiala, one each in Ropar, Sangrur

PATIALA: Three new cases have been reported Covid-19 positive in Patiala on Friday while one each in Ropar and Sangrur district also tested positive for the virus.


Dr Harish Malhotra, Patiala civil surgeon said that on Thursday 298 samples were sent for testing of which two persons reported positive of the virus including an eighteen-year-old person of Hari Majra village and 42 year-old person of Lanja village of Harpalpur block in the district have reported positive.

He said that another case reported positive is a resident of Patiala but tested positive in Mohali where his samples were taken after he landed at Mohali airport from Mumbai.

So far, 4884 samples have been taken in Patiala of which 122 have reported positive of the virus while 4465 reported negative and two have already died whereas reports of 297 samples are awaited. The authorities revealed that 16 cases are active in Patiala.

In Ropar, one person tested positive of the virus on Friday. The health authorities revealed that the infected person is a 27-year-old resident of Nangal town in the district and had recently returned from Delhi along with five more persons whose sample reports are awaited.

Dr HN Sharma, Ropar civil surgeon said that on Thursday a driver of a car was also tested positive. He said both these patients are sent to Gian Sagar Medical Institute in Banur for treatment. He revealed that so far a total of 62 cases have been reported positive of which two are active and undergoing treatment while one patient has already died and 59 have recovered from the virus.

In Sangrur, a 62-year-old person of Jahangir village had tested positive for the virus. The authorities revealed that the infected person was working as a driver to a tempo-traveller and his contacts are being traced out.

They said that on Friday a total of 181 samples were reported negative whereas one reported positive taking the tally to 98 cases so far. The authorities revealed that only seven cases are active whereas others have recovered from the coronavirus.

So far, a total of 3997 samples have been sent for testing of which 3685 were reported negative and results of 208 samples were awaited whereas 98 reported positive. The health officials revealed that around 1482 persons having travel history in Punjab or the country are under home-quarantine whereas 52 international passengers are also under home-quarantine.
