Ex-professor murder: Forensic team scans flat
KOLKATA: Forensic officials on Friday visited the Rajarhat apartment and collected evidence from the first-floor flat where a 74-year-old retired professor of Jogmaya Devi College was allegedly killed by his son, also a former professor at a hotel management institute in Garia, after a heated argument on Wednesday night.
Samples and fingerprints were collected from the living room where Suniti Kumar Mukherjee was found dead. The blood-stained kitchen knife that was seized by the cops was also handed over to the officials for a thorough inspection.
A senior officer of the Airport police station said they were also waiting for the post-mortem report that is likely to arrive in a day or two. "It will give us an idea of the time of his death and will also help us in investigation," the officer said.
The accused - Sabyasachi Mukherjee - has confessed before the cops that he used to have frequent fights with his father over several issues and on Wednesday, he had attacked him in a fit of rage. He has allegesly told cops thay he never meant to murder his father and had not realised that the attack would kill him.
