House collapses in rains in Saadatganj

Lucknow: Heavy rains on Monday afternoon led to waterlogging and traffic snarls in many parts of the city. While areas such as Saadatganj, Maulviganj, Chowk, Sarojininagar and Gomtinagar recorded heavy rains, light rains continued intermittently across other parts of the city.

In Saadatganj's Mansoor Nagar, a dilapidated house collapsed in the downpour. No one was injured since the house was vacant. In another incident, a large tree fell on parked bikes and cars in the Aminabad medicine market.

Several key roads in Indiranagar, Gomtinagar and Husainabad heritage zone were waterlogged due to overflowing drains, and impacted traffic flow. Meanwhile, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar conducted surprise inspections of some waterlogged areas, including pumping stations, in Zones 1, 2, and 6. During his visit to the Wazirganj and Sarkata drains, he found a pump malfunctioning and issued stern warnings to officials. He also reviewed cleaning operations at Harinagar and Mahmood Nagar drains.
