IET sets up centres for green hydrogen & electric vehicles

Lucknow: The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) is now home to two cutting-edge centres of excellence focused on green hydrogen and electric vehicles . The institution has successfully installed systems to generate green hydrogen onsite using a combination of wind and solar energy, alongside battery manufacturing for all-terrain electric vehicles.

The college currently generates 4 kilowatts of electricity from renewable wind and solar sources, which powers the green hydrogen production process.

"At IET, we have set up the smart renewable energy (RE) based energy management system along with a green hydrogen centre. It is an experimental and research platform designed to study the real-world dynamics of a smart grid integrated with multiple renewable energy sources and advanced green hydrogen technologies," said IET director Prof Vineet Kansal.

Prof Arun Kumar Tiwari, who oversees the two centres of excellence, added, "The system serves as an ideal hands-on platform for students, researchers, and energy professionals to study renewable energy integration, hydrogen energy cycles, and smart grid operations in a safe, controlled laboratory environment."

Another highlight at IET is the electric vehicle lab, a modern modular platform that suspports advanced training, research, and experimentation in electric mobility. This facility allows for in-depth study of key components of EV technology—from battery dynamics to propulsion and charging systems.
