JNU students' union elections likely in second half of Nov
New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) elections are likely to be held in mid or late November , marking the much-awaited return of one of India's most politically significant student polls .
According to university officials, the election schedule was tentatively planned for six to eight weeks after the start of the PhD academic session, which began on Sept 12. This places the expected polling period in the second half of November.
The administration issued a notification and constituted the grievance redressal committee on Oct 3. It will handle all complaints related to nominations, campaigning, and the overall conduct of the elections.
Meanwhile, the university recently issued an advisory following a clash between two student groups on campus. The notice urged vigilance and restraint, warning that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in violent incidents. The advisory also reminded students that prior permission is mandatory for organising events on campus.
