Kavaratti patient flown to Kochi in Navy chopper

KOCHI: The southern naval command (SNC) carried out an urgent medical evacuation of a patient in coma from the Indira Gandhi Hospital, Kavaratti (Lakshadweep’s capital) to a hospital in Kochi on Thursday.

The patient, Cheriyabi P P (43), a resident of Kalpeni , was suffering from cerebrovascular accident or stroke along with cerebral haemorrhage.



Th patient was flown in a naval advanced light helicopter (ALH) by the southern naval command to INS Garuda , along with medical personnel, at 10.45am. From INS Garuda, the patient was taken to the VPS Lakeshore Hospital for further treatment.

Baby’s heart treatment successful

An 8-day-old baby, who was suffering from a heart disease, was successfully treated at the Lisie hospital. The baby developed health concerns soon after its birth on May 8. The second phase of the treatment will start after six months.
