LMC to plant 1.3L saplings in green drive

Lucknow: Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will plant 1.37 lakh saplings in the city under its mega plantation drive on July 9.

As part of final preparations, a special webinar was held on Sunday at the Municipal Corporation headquarters, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed urban local bodies across UP. He encouraged citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation and appealed to everyone to plant a tree under the emotional call of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.

The webinar was attended by Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, municipal councillors and additional municipal commissioner Arvind Kumar Rao. They discussed the campaign plan and pledged to make it a success with strong public involvement.

Horticulture superintendent Gangaram Gautam said that citizens will also be urged to adopt and take care of the saplings.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Arvind Kumar Rao said that all planted saplings will be geo-tagged.
