Lokayukta takes up suo motu probe

HYDERABAD: Telangana Lokayukta Justice A Rajashekher Reddy on Friday took up a suo motu inquiry into deaths due to adulterated toddy in Hyderabad.

A complaint was registered and the judge directed authorities to get the records on deaths from the excise department's director and also prohibition officer of Medchal Malkajgiri district.

The judge took up the issue after coming across newspaper reports. The case will be heard on July 18.

Taking up another case about an incomplete road filled with concrete and mud at Rampalli that has caused eight accidents in the last two months, the judge sought the records from the municipal administration director, municipal commissioner of Nagaram municipality, Medchal Malkajgiri collector and superintendent of roads and buildings department. They were directed to file reports on the status of the road and accidents by July 18.
