'Mapusa mkt needs facelift'

Saligao: Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Thursday said there was a need to refurbish the town’s market and upgrade civic amenities including toilet blocks.

D’Souza told reporters that the existing drainage system at the market needed a revamp to avoid flooding. “Initially, we can focus on building proper drains and underground power cabling.

Illumination at strategic points will also help people,” he said.

On the proposed Mapusa Ravindra Bhavan , D’Souza said they have received willingness from nine out of tenpeople that own the land admeasuring around 40,000 sqm on the outskirts of Mapusa town heading towards Panaji.
