Lucknow: Mining director Mala Srivastava has sought details of the stock of balu (sand) and morang (coarse sand) set aside by mining contractors to meet the demand of individuals and construction agencies engaged in development work. The directive came during a meeting held on Friday to assess the demand and supply of minor minerals in Uttar Pradesh.

The meeting aimed to ensure a smooth, easy, and uninterrupted supply of minor minerals for public and developmental works, as well as to exercise effective control over illegal mining, transportation, and storage.

Emphasising the use of drone technology for monitoring mining activities, she instructed that regular surveillance of sensitive areas be conducted through drones.
