Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express to save 95 minutes of travel time

MUMBAI: Passengers traveling by third Rajdhani between Mumbai and New Delhi will save close to 95 minutes as authorities have decided to delay the departure of the train from Mumbai from March 23.

The third Rajdhani, between CSMT and Hazrat Nizamuddin via Nashik and Bhopal, use to depart at 2.50pm from CSMT and arrive at the final destination at 10.20pm.

CR spokesperson said, “The train will now depart from CSMT at 4.10pm and reach Hazrat Nizamuddin at 10.05 am, the following day.”

From Hazrat Nizamuddin the train will depart at 5.15pm instead of 4.1 pm and New Delhi at 11.55am instead of 11.50am, the following day.

The train departs on Wednesday and Saturday from CSMT. It departures days from Hazrat Nizamuddin are Thursday and Sunday.

The savings in times is because of speed run of train because of Push and Pull technique in which engines are attached at the rear and the front of the train.

This mode helps in faster acceleration and deceleration, besides powerful braking and a reduction in jerks.

Another major advantage is having an engine at the rear will ensure the train can be pulled out of the station quickly. This means the platform doesn’t need to be occupied for a long time.

The Mumbai Central New Delhi Rajdhani takes 15 hours 50 minutes to cover the destination between these two cities as it travels via shorter route from Gujarat and Rajasthan spanning 1384 km.
