Police bust illegal firecracker unit in Sanwer, explosives worth Rs 4 lakh seized

INDORE: Sanwer police on Saturday raided an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit operating out of a house built on agricultural land in Thirakhedi Kakad village and seized a large quantity of explosives. Police seized 12 plastic sacks containing 360 gram ‘sutli’ bombs and raw material worth Rs 4 lakh.

SP Hitika Vasal said that the raid was carried out by Sanwer police station in-charge Girija Shankar Mahobiya.

“On Friday, we had received intelligence that ‘sutli’ bombs were being illegally manufactured at the residence of Pappu Dabi in Thirakhedi Kakad. A team was immediately dispatched to the location, where they discovered 12 plastic sacks containing around 360 kilograms of explosives, all sealed and filled with locally made sutli bombs ,” she said.

Along with the firecrackers, raw materials including aluminum powder, sulfur powder, plastic tubs, trays, sieves, knives, and weighing scales were also found. The total value of the seized material was estimated at around Rs 4 lakh, she added.

Police registered a case against the accused, Smesh, son of Madhu Singh, a resident of Samajwad Nagar, Indore, under Section 9(b) of the Explosives Act, 1884. The accused was taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
