Porter dies after six assault him over petty dispute in Uruli Devachi
Pune: A 46-year-old porter died after he was brutally attacked with sticks by four men over a petty dispute at old Palkhi Road around 10pm on July 10.
The deceased was identified as Ram Lochan Hussaini Kori , a resident of Uruli Devachi. He died due to internal clotting and a head injury, as per the advanced post-mortem report issued by Sassoon General Hospital.
Inspector Rajesh Khande (crime) of Phursungi police on Saturday said Kori was on his way to purchase chips when one of the assailants pushed him, following which a dispute broke out between them. "After the victim sought reasons for pushing him, the assailant and three others brutally attacked him with sticks. They then entered the victim's residence where they abused and attacked his nephew, Dhiraj Ram, also a porter, with sticks and left," Khande said.
The officer said the seriously injured Kori complained of a severe headache but went to sleep. "The incident came to light on July 11, when his nephew and three roommates realised that there was no movement in the victim's body, following which Ram lodged a complaint against six men relating to murder with the Phursungi police," he said.
A police team worked on certain clues and arrested casual workers Devas Dhurve (22), Premlal Kumare (21), Sanjay Masram (28), Ranjit Jadhav (20), Satish Kumare (18) and Vishal Sariyam (21) after investigations confirmed their involvement in the murder.
A magisterial court on Saturday sent the suspectsinto police custody till July 16.
