SpiceJet Delhi-Mumbai flight disrupted: 2 passengers try to enter cockpit during taxiing; captain aborts takeoff, CISF called in
NEW DELHI: Two unruly passengers were removed from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 at Delhi airport on Monday after they allegedly attempted to forcefully enter the cockpit while the aircraft was taxiing, causing significant delays to the Mumbai-bound flight.
Following the disruption, the aircraft returned to the bay, where the passengers were offloaded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF ).
According to a statement issued by the airline, the incident occurred before takeoff. The passengers reportedly ignored repeated instructions from the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the captain to remain seated.
"In the interest of the safety of all passengers and crew, the Captain decided to return the aircraft to the bay," a SpiceJet spokesperson said. The two individuals were then offloaded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for further action.
The airline confirmed that despite repeated requests from the cabin crew, the Captain, and other passengers, the duo continued their disruptive behaviour. “They attempted to approach the cockpit forcefully, which is a serious safety violation,” the spokesperson added.
SpiceJet reiterated that the safety and security of passengers and crew remain their top priority, and strict action will be taken against any such unruly conduct onboard.
