Kanpur: A 17-year-old boy was shot dead and two others were injured after a violent clash broke out between two groups over a land dispute in Ramnagar Puthri village, under Nawabganj police station limits in Farrukhabad, on Saturday evening.

According to reports, Mahavir, a resident of Ramnagar Puthri, has a long-standing land dispute with Omkar, who belongs to the same village. A few days ago, a verbal altercation took place between the two parties, which was resolved by local villagers. However, around 5:30 pm on Saturday, Omkar and his family members allegedly began abusing Mahavir. When he objected, they attacked him with sticks. As the situation escalated, Omkar reportedly opened fire. Mahavir, his 17-year-old nephew Akash, and niece Renu (16), daughter of Umesh Chandra, sustained injuries in the gunfire.

Upon receiving information, station officer Vidyasagar Tiwari reached the scene with police personnel. Mahavir was sent to the Community Health Centre (CHC), while Akash and Renu were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared Akash dead.

Additional superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar Singh said shots were fired during a land dispute between the two groups. "Two people are injured, and one person has died. One suspect, Omkar, has been taken into custody. Efforts are underway to arrest the other absconding accused," he said.
