Woman found hanging in BF's house; family alleges murder

Varanasi: Sensation prevailed at Marui village under Sindhora police station on Sunday morning after the body of a 21-year-old woman, Kaumari Babita , was found hanging inside a room of her boyfriend's house.

While police suspect suicide, the woman's father has alleged foul play and demanded a thorough investigation.

DCP (Gomti Zone) Akash Patel, who visited the scene, said initial evidence suggests a case of suicide, as the room was locked from the inside. However, keeping in mind the serious allegations made by the family, police have sent the body for postmortem and begun a detailed probe. A forensic team was also deployed to collect evidence from the site. According to preliminary findings, Babita had entered the house and locked herself in a room. Her boyfriend's sister-in-law, who was present in the house at the time, noticed the act and immediately raised an alarm. Local residents rushed to the spot and broke open the door, only to find Babita hanging. Before they could rescue her, she died.
