Curti panchayat inspects 'illegal' retaining wall
Ponda: After inspecting the alleged illegal retaining wall at Khandepar on Friday, the Curti-Khandepar panchayat will order its demolition.
Sarpanch Nilkanth Naik said the wall at Dadyer Nallakond-Khandepar has been erected without obtaining necessary permissions from the panchayat.
The inspection was carried out by the panchayat upon receiving a complaint by the residents of Bagwada, alleging that a retaining wall was erected and land filling was done illegally.
Sandeep Parker, a local, said the wall could result in flooding of the area in the monsoon.
During the inspection, the retaining wall was measured to be 168m long and 3.8m high.
Last week, a hearing was conducted by the panchayat and it was resolved by the residents of Bagwada that the panchayat should not permit any development in survey number 176/1.
