Biker hit by SUV, dies

Kanpur: A fatal accident occurred near the COD bridge on Tuesday morning when a speeding SUV collided with a motorcyclist. The abandoned vehicle, which bore ‘Govt of India' markings, was later impounded by police after bystanders alerted them, while the driver absconded from the scene.

The deceased, identified as Ramkishore Sahu (40), from Ganeshpur in the Chakeri police station jurisdiction, was employed at a plywood establishment near Jarib Chowki intersection. According to his younger brother Shyamu, Ramkishore departed for work at 10:30 am on Tuesday, following his regular schedule. The accident occurred when he was ascending the COD bridge beyond Shyam Nagar, where a fast-moving SUV, approaching from Ramadevi struck him, causing him to be pulled along briefly.

Shyamu said fragments of the helmet pierced his brother's head and face, resulting in immediate death. Chakeri inspector Santosh Kumar Shukla confirmed that the vehicle's registration is under Liaqat Ali, a Shyam Nagar, Ganganagar resident. The authorities are actively pursuing the driver's whereabouts and will proceed with legal measures once the family registers their complaint. tnn
